Key Talking Points

Call the Governor at:  518-474-8390

You may be put on hold until a representative can talk to you and be given the option to leave a message.  If you opt to leave a message, make it short and simple.   Messages like those below can be conveyed directly to a representative or  left as a  voice message.  Leave your name and address.

Parents, family members, tell his office:

I am the parent (family member) of a loved one with a developmental disability.

I am calling to urge Governor Paterson to provide a trend factor in his budget request for voluntary agencies funded by the Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities.  A trend factor is absolutely critical to quality care and protecting the health, safety and even lives of vulnerable citizens like my  child  (loved one).

I am also calling on the Governor to provide additional funding for new development of desparately needed out-of-home placements.

Staff/direct care professionals tell his office:

I am employed to work with persons with developmental disabilities.

I would like to ask the Governor to include a trend factor in his budget request for voluntary agencies funded by the Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities.

I provide hands on care.  My job is extremely demanding.  A trend factor will give my employer the ability to provide me with a modest cost of living increase.
