Volunteer Program - Overview

AHRC Nassau has many diverse and rewarding volunteer opportunities available for anyone in the community 16 years of age or older.  By volunteering for AHRC, you help to make to a difference in the life of a child or adult who has an intellectual or other developmental disability.  Volunteers are an important component within the AHRC family; helping us to bring joy, companionship, dignity and independence to the lives of the individuals we serve.

Volunteers afford our individuals with a wonderful array of opportunities to assist with the learning of new skills such as cooking, sewing, recreation, computer use, literacy development, socialization, advocacy and expression through art.  Placement opportunities are conveniently located throughout Nassau County and are extremely flexible.  AHRC has support programs that run seven (7) days a week; evening and weekend opportunities are also available.

If you are a patient, compassionate and commitment-oriented person, AHRC welcomes you to share that special side of yourself with our very special population!
