Psychiatric Services

The Advantage Care Diagnostic and Treatment Center provides psychiatric services which include diagnosing psychiatric illness and implementing pharmacological treatment. Through a comprehensive psychiatric assessment, individuals with psychiatric illness and/or behavioral symptoms can be identified and offered appropriate treatment. The psychiatrists will be prescribing and monitoring medication as to its frequency, continued use, effectiveness, dosage and toxicity.

 

Psychiatric service areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Comprehensive psychiatric assessment of individuals to evaluate current behavior and mental status; associated with mental disorders
  • Identifying a psychiatric disorder in the developmentally disabled;
  • Diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders and with psychotropic medication and behavior modification;
  • On an on-going basis monitor the efficacy of the medication, continued use, dosage and toxicity, adverse reactions;
  • Monitoring automatic involuntary movement disorders; (AIMS testing).
  • Monitoring extra-pyramidal symptoms; (EPS testing).
  • Educating patients, families and care givers about the risks and benefits of medication in use
