Honoring the legacy of Dr. King, AHRC Nassau participated in the City of Glen Cove’s 38th Annual MLK Program and kicked off the first in a series of inclusive volunteering events.

Every year, the City of Glen Cove hosts a celebration of the life and work of Dr. King. This morning, people supported by AHRC Day Services were featured alongside local community organizations and leaders in a video segment (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZHvLi3zvp8) that shared their smiles, ideas, community projects, and art honoring Dr. King.

100 meal kits with recipes and words of wisdom from Dr. King were completed, funded in part by a grant from The Arc of the United States (images below). Serving 400 food insecure neighbors through Island Harvest, these kits were put together by men and women supported by AHRC, families, and friends, including Girl Scout Troop 3537 and a Farmingdale State College student.

Dr. King also served as an inspiration across AHRC Day Services, with projects developed based on love, equality and support for a more equitable future.
