Through a unique partnership with AHRC Nassau, men and women enrolled in AHRC Nassau’s day habilitation services are engaged in the daily operation of Wheatley Farms & Arts. Whether a person is enrolled in Person Without Walls (PWW) supports, or through a site-based opportunity, men and women throughout AHRC Nassau’s day services can enjoy the Wheatley Farms & Arts experience.
With sixteen animals on site, including sheep, goats, bunnies and a pig, there is so much to do! Men and women are engaged with animals through grooming, feeding and watering, replacing hay and cleaning specialized equipment. Seasonal plantings, horticultural activities, composting and harvesting are part of the experience. The Center’s Club House offers continuous learning that engages and promotes mindfulness, health, wellness and a connection with nature, animals, the arts and each other.
