Join this interactive session where NYS Regional Teams on DEI explore their collective journey, offering a platform to examine challenges and opportunities in an ever-changing environment. Participants will engage with peers who are equally passionate about fostering inclusion. Through storytelling and discussion, breakout groups will explore meaningful progress while acknowledging barriers that require collective innovation to experiences, creating an exchange of ideas and strategies. This session is about building a stronger network that sustains ongoing collaboration and mutual support.

About the Presenters

Dr. Sarah Gonzalez NoveiriDr. Sarah Gonzalez Noveiri, Ph.D. (they/them/she/her)
Dr. Sarah Gonzalez Noveiri is the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Officer at AHRC Nassau, where they have served since 2022. They bring global expertise in evidence-based systems of organizational change, with a focus on building healthier, more inclusive workplace cultures. An award-winning interdisciplinary rhetorician and critical cultural scholar, their work explores how identity, power, and culture intersect—informing practices that promote equity, belonging, and justice.

Their academic background bridges the humanities and organizational strategy, grounding their approach to diversity, equity, and inclusion in both research and real-world application.

 

Bridget Cariello

Bridget Cariello (she/her)
Bridget Cariello is a recognized leader in advocacy, project development, and community building at both the state and national levels. She holds a bachelor’s degree in human and community services and a master’s degree in human resource management. As an administrator at AHRC Nassau, she spearheads initiatives that advance social equity, person-centered practices, and the rights of people with developmental and other disabilities.

A dedicated advocate and mother of a 28-year-old son with autism, Bridget specializes in self-advocacy, parent advocacy, policy, and leadership development. She has led the design and implementation of impactful projects such as SANYS University, DSP Pathways Long Island, and SDMNY—empowering people to understand and advocate for their rights while fostering lasting community change.

 

 Bio: Dr. Tolulope Elizabeth Adenekan, Ph.D. (she/her) is a distinguished scholar and administrator with a remarkable track record of achievements. With over 20 years of experience in administration and information management, she holds a Ph.D. in Information Resources Management (Business Information Management) and other advanced degrees in addition to other advanced degrees. Dr. Adenekan has published over 50 papers in reputable journals and edited books, her research interests include information management, administration, and organizational development, with a recent focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Bio: Dr. Sarah Gonzalez Noveiri, Ph.D., they/them/she/her, is the DEI Officer at AHRC Nassau, and an award-winning interdisciplinary rhetorician and Critical Cultural scholar whose work centers critical race and ethnic studies, gender and sexuality studies, intercultural communication, colonial, and settler colonial studies. Their research and pedagogy span different sub-disciplines in the Humanities all the while engaging in issues of global diversity, equity, and inclusion through an intersectional lens. Bio: Bridget Cariello, with an As. Integrated Studies, BS in Human and Community Services and a MS in Human Resource Management, is a highly regarded leader in advocacy, statewide-national project development, and community building. As an Administrator at AHRC Nassau, she drives positive change through statewide and national initiatives that champion social equity, person centeredness, and the rights of people with developmental and other disabilities. A passionate advocate and mother of a 28 year-old with man with Autism, Bridget specializes in self-advocacy, parent advocacy, policy, social marketing, and leadership development. A prolific researcher, Dr. Adenekan has authored over 50 publications in esteemed journals and edited books. Her research expertise spans information management, administration, organizational development, technology management, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
