Thousands of children, teens and adults across Long Island benefit from grants awarded by the AHRC Foundation. Donations made to our events provide needed services and interventions across the lifetime for people with developmental disabilities and their families.
Each year, Nassau County AHRC Foundation renews and celebrates its commitment to children and adults with developmental disabilities at its Rose Ball.
The Rose Ball seeks to ensure that regardless of budget cuts and changes in the economic and political climate, services for people with special needs will continue now and into the future.

Join our community on October 18th for an amazing experience filled with activities, entertainment, snacks and celebration. More than 1,200 walkers will gather in Eisenhower Park to walk in support of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Donating appreciated securities, such as stock or mutual funds, to AHRC Foundation is a tax-wise approach for providing for children and adults with developmental disabilities.
Many donors choose to make gifts to AHRC Foundation using long-term appreciated stocks and mutual funds due to the attractive tax advantages associated with such gifts.
The benefits available to you when making a contribution of stock or mutual funds may include:
- Avoiding federal and state tax on the capital gain;
- Receiving an income tax deduction (federal and most states) for the full market value of the gift if you itemize deductions on your tax return and have held the assets one year or longer;
- Making a larger gift at a lower original cost to you.

When employees give through their place of employment, it creates morale and fosters team building. Thanks to the generosity of AHRC Foundation’s corporate and foundation supporters, employees can double or even triple their donations to AHRC Foundation through a Matching Gift program.
Companies and foundations use various procedures by which employees can request matching gifts: online forms, payroll deductions or paper forms. Contact your company’s human resources department to research your options.
Matching Gift donations support the mission of AHRC Nassau to teach, support and advocate for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities to make life choices, exercise independence and develop responsibility.
If your company uses a paper matching gift form, please complete the employee portion of the form and send it to AHRC Foundation. We’ll do the rest!

The Nassau County AHRC Foundation’s 21st Century Society was formed in 1999 to recognize those individuals who have made a planned gift to the AHRC Foundation. By naming the AHRC Foundation as the beneficiary in one’s will, life insurance policy, retirement plan, savings account or charitable remainder trust, you are ensuring that future generations of children with developmental disabilities will continue to benefit from the invaluable services and programs that AHRC Nassau has to offer.
A charitable bequest or planned gift can make a significant difference to the AHRC Foundation and bring peace of mind for the donor. A bequest made to the AHRC Foundation need not be cash assets. The Foundation is also pleased to accept gifts of stock, real estate, bonds, or a living trust. If you would like help in this planning process, please call the Foundation at 516-626-1000 ext. 1138. Remember, a gift to the AHRC Foundation is a gift to the future of your loved ones.
