AHRC Nassau continues to rank among the strongest service providers in the state and nation. This year, AHRC Nassau was again designated by New York State’s Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) as a Compass agency, only one of four statewide. It also remained one of just nine organizations nationwide to earn CQL’s Person-Centered Excellence Accreditation With Distinction, its highest recognition for quality-of-life outcomes and organizational practices.
In the spring, AHRC Nassau and Citizens Options Unlimited hosted a successful three-day Compass Validation visit with OPWDD. In the fall, both organizations completed their third year of a four-year CQL Accreditation, a distinction held by only these two agencies in all of New York State. Together, they continue to demonstrate their deep commitment to excellence in person-centered supports.
Throughout both visits, interviewers connected with people supported, self-advocates, family members, staff, and volunteers at a number of events. These visits offered a meaningful opportunity to demonstrate how person-centered supports can lead to real choice and more fulfilled lives as well as identifying areas for continued learning and improvement.
