This training provides participants with the knowledge and tools to effectively navigate AHRC Nassau and Citizens’ complaint and grievance processes. It emphasizes person-centered practices, individual rights, and regulatory compliance to ensure concerns are addressed promptly and respectfully. Participants will learn how to differentiate between complaints, grievances and incidents, follow organizational protocols, and the standards emphasized to uphold the dignity and safety of individuals receiving services. The session also covers the role of the Justice Center and OPWDD regulations in safeguarding vulnerable populations.
Learning Objectives:

Distinguish between a complaint, a grievance and an incident and understand the appropriate steps for resolution within organizational policy.
- Understand the chain of command and open-door policy to address concerns while promoting transparency and collaboration with families and individuals
- Ensure compliance with individual rights and state regulations (including OPWDD and Justice Center guidelines) to protect the health, safety, and dignity of people receiving services
