Art on display at the Alliance Art ShowAt the Sagamore in Bolton Landing, NY, the NY Alliance for Inclusion and Innovation held its annual conference, featuring an art show with works from artists across New York State. This event, much anticipated by artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities, showcased a diverse array of talent. A total of twenty-five pieces of work by artists supported by AHRC Nassau were displayed.

Mary Jo Lowerre, one of the presenting artists, attended the conference supported by day habilitation staff member, Sophia Blackert. Mary Jo found success, selling five of her artworks during the event. Another significant highlight was Wenceslao Herrera winning first place for his striking depiction of a London streetscape. In his absence, Mary Jo graciously accepted the award on his behalf. This recognition not only honored Wenceslao’s exceptional skill but also spotlighted the supportive community fostering artistic expression among people with disabilities in New York State.

The first-place ribbon made it home to Wenceslao, who celebrated his well-deserved recognition surrounded by his friends and members of AHRC Nassau’s Plainview team all celebrating this artistic achievement and supportive community.
