Overview:

This seminar is designed for individuals and families looking to learn more about the supports and services available for adults through AHRC Nassau and Citizens Options Unlimited. Attendees will gain valuable insight into a variety of person-centered programs that support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Nassau and Suffolk County, including:

  • Day Programs
  • Residential Services
  • Respite Services
  • Community Habilitation Programs

About the Presenters:

Sally Anne Burgess

Sallyanne Burgess is the Vice President of Operations for Citizens Options Unlimited. Citizens is a not for profit organization serving individuals and their families with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  Citizens provides residential, weekend respite and self-direction  services for adults in Nassau and Suffolk counties.  Citizens operates Camp Loyaltown located in Hunter New York, through our respite program, camp provides adults and children with a wonderful sleep away camp opportunity from June – September each year.

Sallyanne has over 35 years of experience in the field of IDD and developmental disabilities. Throughout her career, Sallyanne has progressed from working directly with individuals in a residential setting and has held a variety of key positions including ADL instructor, Health Office Technician, Assistant Manager, Manager, Training Coordinator, SCIP R Master Trainer, CPR Instructor, Quality Assurance Coordinator and investigator as well as serving a decade with NYS OPWDD as a Surveyor.

Sallyanne is continually inspired by the advancements in the field of IDD and remains dedicated to promoting person centered services that enhance the lives of the people we support.

Shaun WeathersShaun Weathers is the Vice President of Operations for AHRC Nassau, one of Long Island’s largest not-for-profit organizations serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. With over 20 years of experience—beginning as a Direct Support Professional—Shaun leads AHRC Nassau’s Day, Community, and Residential Habilitation programs, providing services to over 1,200 adults throughout Nassau County. He is also an advocate for disability rights, working closely with key stakeholders and policymakers in New York State.
