Go behind the scenes and learn how nonprofits like AHRC Nassau are governed, funded, and structured — and how families can use trusts and planned giving to support their loved one’s needs now and in the future.

Learning Objectives:

• Become informed on how nonprofits are governed, including how boards and leadership function as fiduciaries and respond to the needs of the community.
• Learn how tax-exempt nonprofits gain and maintain funding through advocacy, transparency, accountability, and compliance — and why some essential supports are not fully funded.
• Explore the full scope of AHRC Nassau services, including how designations like NYS Compass and CQL’s Person-Centered Excellence Accreditation With Distinction orient services to the people we serve and our mission.
• Understand how planning for long-term continuity of care through guardianship, supplemental needs trusts, and estate planning can support a loved one’s needs and quality of life when parents/caregivers are no longer able to do so.
