The Salvation Army Freeport Advisory Council Annual Civic Dinner honored AHRC Nassau with its Community Organization Award at its annual civic dinner on October 18. Congratulations to fellow award recipients, Ronald Ellerbe for Citizen of the Year, Iavarone Brothers for Business of the Year and The American Legion, William Clinton Story Post 342 for 100 Years of Public Service

AHRC was recognized for its exceptional volunteerism in the local community. A family-led organization and a Chapter of The Arc New York, our agency supports people with developmental disabilities to lead fulfilling lives together with family, friends and community. Throughout Nassau County, people supported by AHRC Nassau contribute more than 200,000 hours a year making a difference to their local communities.

We were also proud to receive a citation from State Assemblymember Judy Griffin and a certificate of honor from Mayor of Freeport Robert T. Kennedy. Always looking ahead, AHRC Nassau’s Day Services team already have a visit scheduled with the new American Legion in Freeport to see how we can volunteer and support their efforts. We also took three tabletop kettles to help collect money for the Salvation Army’s holiday Red Kettle Campaign.
