In recognition of his achievement, Wenceslao received the special honor of participating in a virtual presentation on September 17, a certificate of placement, a gift card, and recognition in the art competition’s digital booklet.

This year’s competition featured 274 artists across three categories, with more than 1,400 voters helping to select the winners.

Among his many artistic accomplishments, Wenceslo previously won The Arc NY Art Competition in 2017. His work was featured last year at an art installation hosted by the New York Alliance.

He remains passionate about painting and sharing his work with others. Wenceslao enters “almost all of the competitions,” said Alisha Anthony, Site Manager at Oceanside-Anchor Avenue, where Wenceslao receives day services. Once the competition rules are in in hand, Wenceslao “doesn’t need much help from us. We take him to Micheals, Blick Art Materials, and he gets the supplies he needs.” Then back at the site, Wenceslao gets to work, “he takes his time and does a lot of detail work.”

His precision and focus are notable.

“He’s very advanced, and particular,” said Arielle Dugue, Art Instructor at Wheatley Farms & Arts Center. “I love how much detail and how much color he uses in his work. It reminds me of my own.”

Congratulations again to Wenceslao for this well-deserved honor—and to all the talented artists who submitted their art this year.
